Flying Purple People Eaters

This manicure was inspired by these gorgeous nails done by Nuthin' But a Nail Thing.

I was just feeling very purple and so I skimmed through my Pinterest inspiration board and picked something I could do in all purple.

The base color is Rimmel I Lilac You, and the dots were done in NYC Midnight with Nabi Hologram Dark Purple on top of them. I think I used three different sizes of dotting tools for this baby!

Polka Bows

Man, it's been a whole month since I posted...again! As usual, I've still been doing my nails and taking pictures, but I just haven't seemed to have the time or words to write these blog posts.

This mani is a Monkey-See, Monkey-Do based on Radi D.'s gorgeous manicure which you can find here. Even after more than two years, I still cannot copy the tiny, crisp lines that my favorite nail artists manage. I am so in awe of their abilities!! But I was still pretty darned happy about my results, even on my winter-short nails.

I started with a base of Pure Ice Home Run, followed by a angled tip with OPI Jade is the New Black. The dark lines are done in Orly Buried Alive, and Sinful Shine Wisp was used for the white detail work. I think Sinful Shine is too thick of a polish to work for detailed lines, though, but I'm running out of my standard Milani Whitest White. I need to pick up some more plain white and black polish next time I'm at Walgreens.

Old Fashioned Roses

This is the second manicure that my co-worker L named. She called it "Happy Forties". However, I decided to call the post "Old Fashioned Roses". I did promise, however, that I would always share her titles with whoever was reading, whether I choose to title the post something else or not.

This mani is based on one by IG@lovely_polish that I found on Pinterest.

I recreated it this manicure completely with Sinful Shine polishes. I picked up a bunch of new ones a few weeks back, and within a few days I had done this manicure. (As I've said many times, untrieds don't stay that way long on my desk!)

The base blue is a gorgeous spring shade called Alfresco. I used Wisp for the white, and then Devious for the red, In The Limelight is the green leaves, and I think I mixed Wisp and Devious to make the pink, since I don't have a pink Sinful Shine in my stash list.

MSMD Chocolate & Caramel

I don't always have a Monkey See, Monkey Do, though most of my manicures can tip their hat to someone for giving me the idea, but this post was completely based on Spektor's Nails manicure which looked to me like someone drizzled chocolate and caramel on top of a piece of candy. I just had to have it on my own nails for a few days!

Mine came out more blobby than hers did, mostly due to my lack of patience, but I loved it all the same, and all my co-workers thought they were amazing. I started with a base of Finger Paints Don't Make a Scene (it's my only basic tan color - I really need to get a few more in that shade range) and used Barielle Aura Angora and Sinful Colors Coffee for the spun sugar lines.

And now for something completely different...or, you know, other people's Monkey See, Monkey Do's!

Monkey See Monkey Do Monday - French with a Twist

I took advantage of Barielle having an amazing sale a few weeks back to get some new polishes. I only had Elle's Spell from this brand before now, but I honestly love their formula. All four of the new polishes I bought go on smooooooth like butta! But I'm not a review or swatch blog, so that's not what you're here for. :) As the title of the post says, this is a Monkey See Monkey Do manicure, so without further ado, here's the inspiration for today's nails:

Aren't they pretty? Of course, I didn't go with anything so neutral-colored. I used two of my brand new Barielle polishes to recreate this - Myrza's Meadow and Date Night. I officially LOVE Myrza's Meadow. I had to point out all the multi-colour glitters to all of my co-workers. This is one of those polishes that had me wiggling my fingers off and on all day just to see the pretty sparkles. The green is the pale green of early spring, and the glitters are, in my mind, tiny little wildflowers just peeking out in the spring across the meadow.

I used Milani Whitest White and Sally Hansen Celeb City for the detail work. I tested different colors on a sample stick before putting them on my nail - I didn't like the way white looked between the two greens, but the silver alone tended to not stand out enough between the dark green and the already-sparkly-light green. So I used white first underneath the silver and it gave it just enough definition to pop properly between the two.

Monkey See, Monkey Do Monday!

I had this gorgeous picture pinned on my nail art board that I wanted to try, and the very day I sat down to recreate it on my nails, I found someone else had done the same thing. So on this Monkey See Monkey Do Monday, you get to see three variations of the same design! First, you get to see what I did, since it's my blog after all. ;)

I started with a base of Fingerpaints Putty In My Hands, then I added Sinful Colors Timbleberry. I totally lost which color I used for the stripey outlines by the time I took the pictures, but the inset jewel color is Zoya Blaze.

Isn't it amazing the differences one can get from the same design just with three different color sets?
