December Polish Days - Get Your Bling On!

It's December's Polish Days, and this month's theme is BLING! I'm also using this as my verrrrry belated entry for the Year's Challenge, week one, numero uno, the very beginning that I started late on. ;) That week was "Make it Sparkle".

I did my best, but you can let me know what you think - did I really get my bling on or not?

!blingbling!

I started with two coats of China Glaze Ruby Slippers for the best winter-festival-style sparkle I've got. I used Essie Set in Stones at a diagonal, and that is a really dense glitter - this is one coat! Granted, a little spreading is needed to arrange the glitters fairly evenly, but that density is from a single dip of the brush. I added rhinestones in winter festival colors across the line between the silver glitter and the red shimmer, and voila! I've got my bling on! There's also a very subtle accent nail going on, though it's easier to see in the first picture below - I changed the order of the rhinestones on my middle finger and my thumbnail. They have a red stone in the center with white stones on the outside, while the rest of my fingers have white in the middle and red on the outside (except for my pinky nails which don't have enough surface area for the outer-edge rhinestones. :)

And of course, since it's Polish Days, there are a lot of other awesome nail artists out there getting their bling on right along with me! Check them out:

    1. Thanks! I knew I'd be wearing these the first few days of a work conference, so I made them red to match my jacket on the first day, actually! I don't tend to wear jewelry, so my nails are my accessory today!

    1. They are gorgeiusly sparkly to the eye, even indoors, but I was happy to capture it so nicely in at least ONE photo. :)

Really neat discovering your site through Polish Days!

    1. Thanks! And glad to have you here in my little hobby world! It's a lot of fun painting pretties on my nails, but it's even more fun to share it with others, ya know?

  7. These are so fun and festive. You're right; Ruby Pumps is a spectacular polish for a bling mani.

    1. It definitely is! At one point I was doing nail art that needed a red micro-glitter polish, and I realized I didn't really have one (I frankened one for that mani) so I asked opinions on the FB polish group, and Ruby Pumps came up a LOT, so I snatched it! (It helps that I can buy CG at a serious discount online so it's the biggest brand in my stash.)

    1. Elegance is definitely what I was going for, so thanks! At work, I can pretty much put whatever on my nails that I want (as long as it's not offensive, ya know?) because our dress code isn't. But since I'm at a work conference this week, and there are research compliance professionals literally from all over the world here? I wanted to go with classy, yeah, while still rocking the bling!

    1. Thanks so much! I'm amazed at how many compliments I've gotten on this mani! I only started doing Polish Days last month and I've really enjoyed it so far. I also do The Year's Challenge, but since I only do my nails about twice a week (it's *just* a hobby! ;) I've found that any challenge more frequent than that just doesn't work for me. I tried to do one of the Halloween challenges last month and I think I ended up only doing about half of them. :P

    1. Technically I celebrate the winter solstice rather than Christmas, which is why I stuck to the "winter festival" terminology in my post, but isn't it awesome that almost everyone has a winter festival to enjoy and give gifts?! And decorate their nails with wintery bling?! ^_^

    1. Thank you so much for the compliment! If I had a favorite polish, it would not be a red one. Probably a green or brown one. But Ruby Pumps is one of my favorite reds, I have to give you that! Though I do have a polish named Ruby Slippers, from Avon, and it's pretty darned gorgeous as well, but not *quite* a sparkly as China Glaze's Pumps. ^_^
