Little Blue Flowers

My co-worker named this manicure Bluebells in Sunshine. However, the flowers don't look anything like bluebells to me, so I disagree! They're closer to Forget-Me-Nots or Baby Blue Eyes, I would think. Except I put white stripes on some of the petals and a black center, which doesn't quite match either of those. Whatever they may be, I think they came out pretty!

I know I used a base of NYC Fashion Safari, but other than that I'm really not sure which polishes I used. This manicure was done back in April, so your guess is probably as good as mine. I think that green might be Sinful Colors Exotic Green, but I'd have to go through my stash to be sure.

All Things Fifties - Strawberries!

I did this manicure back in April. It was glorious springtime, flowers blooming, and I felt like polka dots. I have no idea why, but I went with it! Instead of roses, I added strawberries for a fresh fruity flavor. :) This nail art design is officially called a "skittlette", and I even went and looked up the source of the name just to share with you! Marta from ChitChat Nails gave the following definition:

Not quite a full skittles look, a skittlette manicure is one with at least two different accent nails. Pick any formation/order you wish, but for a true skittlette at least two nails need to be the same (the others can all be different) OR two pairs of identical nails and a different nail.

For those of you who like math/equations.  A skittlette can be any of the following:AABBC, AAABC, AABCD(in any order on your nails so that AAABC=ABCAA=AACBA)


So as I have two nails that are white with red polka-dots, and the remainder are different, this is a strawberry skittlette!

The red, white, and yellow are all Sinful Shine: Devious, Wisp, and Bananappeal, respectively. The green is Sinful Colors Exotic Green, and for a bit of change-up I used Zoya Chloe on my index fingers over the Devious. I don't really remember why I decided to do that. It looks kind of out of place looking back on it, but it was pretty! I do love looking at sparkles on my fingertips over the course of the day, and color-changing flakes are always the bomb.

Co-worker L named this one All Things Fifties because she said it reminded her of aprons with strawberries and polka dot skirts from the time period.

Rainbow Sprinkles

This is a really old manicure. I couldn't find the pictures for it for a while, and when they finally showed back up on my computer, I was well into the I-don't-wanna-post phase. But hey, I actually have the names of all the polishes I used!!

The white base was done in Milani Whitest White. The red dots on the thumb are done in China Glaze Salsa, and the glitter they're dotted with is Pure Joy. Orange is brought to you by Wet N Wild, The Clock Strikes Orange, and glitter-fied with Linderella's Cauldron Drippings. The middle fingers used Sinful Colors Exotic Green and Green Ocean, while the ring fingers are done in China Glaze Frostbite topped with Blackheart Royally Screwed. Last, but not least, the pinkies are dotted with Wet N Wild Who Is Ultra Violet and topped with dots of Max Factor Fantasy Fire. Phew, that's quite a list!

I didn't take pictures of the right hand, as it looked nearly identical to the left hand. Dotting tools balance the skill, or lack thereof, between the abilities of the dominant and non-dominant hands! I did take a handful of different pictures, at different angles and focus to show the pretty glitters as best I could.

Happy Birthday Flowers!!

My birthday was back in July, and I absolutely adored the birthday card that my co-workers gave me. So much so that I did a manicure based on it that very weekend!

Isn't that pretty?! So many colors went into this manicure: the base white was Sinful Shine Wisp, but the rest of the polishes are in no particular order: Sinful Colors Happy Ending, Sinful Shine Bananappeal, Avon Absinthe, Orly What's the Password, Above the Curve Wisteria, and I used both Girly Bits Street Magic and a little bitty Bon Bons clear glitter polish (no name on the bottle) to mimic the sparkle-shine on the card. Here's a blurry pic to show off that glitter:

Mocha Marble

This manicure was done with a watercolor technique, but my co-worker L named it Mocha Marble, and since it does look kind of like marbled stone, I stuck with it. :)

I think I started with a white base, but the polishes used for the colors are Joe Fresh Mocha, Chian Glaze Kalahari Kiss, NYC Mulberry Street, Elevation Polish Temperance, and Sinful Colors Coffee. I have no more words to add to this one, so bring on the pretties!

Shamrock Day

Proof that I have been taking pictures of all my manicures, even though I've terribly remiss about typing up my nail art posts - yes, this is actually my St. Patrick's Day manicure.

The green is Zoya Logan. The gold...well, I have written down three different Sinful Colors names and I have no idea which one or ones I used! The ones on my list are All About You, Let's Meet, and This Is It.

Peep Peep!

My co-worker, E, is a weeeee bit obsessed with Peeps. Not that she eats a lot of them, but she thinks they look adorable. So around this time of year she starts putting a few packages on her front desk as a display. And gradually, over the course of a few weeks, more start showing up. Because they come in a whole rainbow of colors, don't you know? So if she starts with pink, yellow, and blue, then someone will show up with a package of green. And someone else will find a package of rabbits instead of chicks. This year, I found orange for her when she had the rest of the rainbow but was only missing the orange. Then people started bringing in the new flavors... I printed up a sign for her, even, with three sides to it so she can change what it says. One side says, "Talk to my Peeps!" The second says, "Have your Peeps call my Peeps...", and the third declares that "Peeps who need Peeps are the happiest Peeps around!"

This is the current display as it was the Friday before Easter. Bwahahahaha! Beware the Peeps!! And if you don't already know where I work, there's one clue in this picture.

So I declared to all and sundry that this manicure was "for E..." when I showed it off. I'm sure you can clearly see why...

I even did my best to match the font in the logo! I did Peeps on my thumbs and middle fingers (given the dimensions of Peep chicks, I needed width more than length for these) and the rest of the fingers have decorated eggs. Now, in my family, eggs usually get decorated for the spring equinox, but I'm happy with this manicure any time of the year.

I used Sinful Shine Wisp and Alfresco for the background colors, and all the various details were done in those as well as Pragmatic, In The Limelight, Dark Room, Break Away, Bananappeal, and Sinful Colors Over It. I just haven't picked up a Sinful Shine pink yet, apparently. But then I have to consciously decide I'm missing a pink shade and go look for it, because I don't buy pinks 'just because'. I hate pink. :P

As I said, Easter's not my holiday, but I thought it was the appropriate day for these to be posted for everybody else. Enjoy!

Pretty Pretty Pastels

This manicure came out a lot more pretty pretty princess than I would ever intend. I just wanted something light colored and frosty. Well, I got that. But seriously, this was way too femme for me. ^_^

And on top of that, while I have a list of polishes that I used in this manicure, I really don't remember what exactly I did on this silly thing. I think there's a gradient of Sinful Colors Silver Belle and Pinky Glitter, and I used Broadway O! Jessica, Pure Ice Splash, and Sinful Colors Tokyo Pearl to make the flowers, adding tiny beads in clusters for the centers of the flowers. But I couldn't swear to that. Tokyo Pearl might be the one in the background. I seriously don't remember. Sowwy!

Random Triangles

When I did this manicure, I was looking for inspiration, and I pulled up February's Tri-Polish challenge to see what the colors were. I haven't done the 3PC in quite a while. This month's colors were pink, grey, and brown, so I thought I'd see what I could do with that. I realized, looking through my myriad polishes, that I don't have any light grey polishes. I corrected that later that week, of course, but I didn't have a light grey for this day.

I started with a base of China Glaze Stone Cold, and I drew fairly random triangles in Sinful Colors Over It and Coffee. I love that brown, but it didn't show up as well as I would've liked against the Stone Cold. Still, I enjoyed the shine of the pink and brown against the matte of the granite color.

Acutely Angled Rainbows

This one is a personal nail fail, though it came out looking kind of cute. It was a fail because it wasn't the way I wanted it to look when I designed it in my head. This is an example of why I tell people that I'm not creative. I'm good at implementation, not design, which is why so many of my best manicures are copied from other people's creations.

I started with a base of Sinful Colors Cinderella, and then I just drew triangles in the following rainbow of colors: Sinful Shine Devious, Wet N Wild The Clock Strikes Orange, China Glaze Solar Power, OPI Jade is the New Black, Sinful Shine Break Away, and Wet N Wild Who is Ultra Violet? I started with a different color on each nail, so that they layered differently; for example, on some nails the last triangles added were red, while on another nail the top layer of triangles is orange, or yellow.

I think I might try this one again at some point, but instead of doing two triangles of each color, only do one. I think it just came out too busy. And I didn't get the triangle lines as crisp and precise as I would have liked. Ah, well, no one is perfect, and definitely not me!
